Magic, watching the eggs be fertilized by the milt

First the Steelhead had to be caught, and they are very strong. The fish was slightly anesthetized. Then oxygen was injected into the female's egg case and the eggs were squeezed out into the basin. Next, the male was sqeezed and milt was spread over the eggs. Once the milt and eggs were well mixed, the fish were released and the fertilized eggs put into trays in the incubation room. It was very exciting

Fish Hatchery Field Trip

What a fabulous day we had at the Seymour Hatchery. We toured the hatchery, caught and looked at invertebrates, fed the fish and evaluated the stream for indicators of a good salmon habitat. The staff was amazing, our parent helpers were so involved and the students were completely engaged the whole time.

The Sneeches

As part of Multicultural Day, Student in Div. 7 read the story, The Sneeches by Dr. Zeus to the school to show the importance of tolerance. They spoke beautifully and the message came across loud and clear.
